EDITH Does It To Us Again With “Coward”

Has that wintertime depression thawed out into the springtime blues yet? If not, allow Denver-based emo rockers EDITH help you out with that. Their new song “Coward” comes just in time for us to break out our best crop tops, slip-on Vans, and a fresh pack of cigarettes. EDITH has the perfect blend of melody, rhythm, and aggression that has already established them as one of Colorado’s top emo acts to see and hear. Not only are they able to get us in our feels with every release, but EDITH is able to do it in a way that doesn’t come across as a wannabe nostalgia act - instead breathing a fresh breath of air into the genre and approaching the genre with their own unique skillset. “Coward” is a testament to EDITH’s undying commitment to what they do and has many of the qualities that sets them apart from others, including sharing vocal duties between guitarist Evan Schmidt, as well as vocalists Gunther Hochholdinger and Tyler Barrett. From the start, “Coward” has a powerful energy that carries across the song with Evan and Ed’s guitar performances, memorable lyrics (“join me on my way to hell” sticks with me the most), and a booming rhythm section (thank you, Ricky and Brian), to carry the song straight to the listener’s soul. Arguably however, the best part of the song hits at the three minute mark with a post-hardcore breakdown that would even have Saosin quaking. EDITH finishes off the song with authority before letting us wallow in what we just witnessed. Not to mention they dropped a cinematic music video for the song (which you can view down below), featuring our good friend of the scene, Dylan Beresford.
Make sure to catch EDITH live May 20th at HQ, of which you can find tickets to HERE.
